Budget lite cinematography

I spent all I could on the DVX100A, plus all the essentials like a tripod, bag, batteries, and stuff like that. Frankly, I don't have enough for any lenses right now, or any adaptors. I want the telephoto lens and the wide angle adaptor, but that isn't going to happen by the time I have to shoot my short. How (without lens adaptorsor anything beside the camera!!!) can I really get the shallow DOF, or deeper DOF. I have read what Barry Green has provided, plus I have the DVD and book, its just that I need some more, if there is any, information. Also, I was told by a proffessional DP that if I want my final product to be in widescreen, to shoot in squeeze then unsqueeze in post. Is that true? Any information, please tell me. I have shot a couple weddings and documentary footage, but not a film like the one I am about to. Also, I have Magic Bullet, so should I not tweak the settings if I will be using that? Thanks for any information.

Really, when was the last time someone said, "eewwww! that movie had deep focus! yuk! i couldn't even stand to watch it... that movie is dirt" ???

I more often hear, "man, what did that guy just say? it sounds like he's talking in a tin can! when will those starving indie filmmakers learn to get good sound? (rhetorical)."

... Probably wise to have a good microphone before worrying about the depth of field thing.
