Brutal picture quality

Yeah good pics are hard to come by for me too. I'm always tumbling off of something or looking like a goon. Those were from the day we got to do Extreme Home Makeover and one of the designers went on a tandem. Video guy had just gotten a new camera so we convinced him we needed to do a test jump with it and have him shoot us to make sure everything worked ok. We convinced him it would definitely fail in the air on his most important video jump with the Extreme Home people if he didnt film us first. Good times with the free video.

I should dig out my first jump shots. It was AFF and I never even look at the camera i was so terrified. I honestly didnt know he was even there I was so freakin busy concentrating on not dying and trying to continue to breathe. Good times...

My first AFF freefall, I got tunnel vision and instantly forgot all of the hand signs I had been mentally rehearsing on the ride up.

From the next jump on I nailed all the compulsories, but that very first time, the instructor popped my canopy for me.

Sorry to interject, I'm reading the posts with much interest (I'd love to sky dive, one day, one day)

Are you guys also by any chance acrophobic (scared of heights)? the reason I ask, is because I think (at least for me) is that I've always been acrophobic but also loved climbing, I'm wondering if thats true for skydivers too!

Interesting you ask. I am extremely afraid of heights. Its odd though because at altitudes above a few hundred feet acrophobia doesnt get triggered for me. So looking down from 10,000 ft is no problem. Now when the canopy and I are descending around 50 ft I get a little nervous but the harness is so supportive I feel "safe". Do you find that any time you have good support (two hands on a ladder, sturdy railing or a suspended seat or harness) you arent afraid? Thats what it is for me. I can climb the tallest of ladders as long as I dont have to reach far or take both hands off. Cliff faces with a railing are ok, but without and I have to sit down and scoot towards the edge. I have done a bit of indoor wall climbing (and need to do more - out of shape!) and it doesnt really bother me. I also make a point to not look down :)

I'm prone to murderous vertigo, which doesn't seem to affect me above heights of about 100-200 feet. Ladders and scaffolding and platforms are hell (which is inconvenient, if your work happens to involve being constantly on and around them). But for some reason it's not a problem when I skydive.

You ever get that vertigo feeling when the door is open but its not your altitude to jump? For some reason I'm deathly afraid of falling out of the plane on accident. If I'm supposed to jump its ok. But I'll be damned if I'm not gripping everything in that plane if someone is getting out at 5k and I'm waiting for 10...

Actually, from the moment I board I'm looking forward to exiting. I don't like small aircraft, so my eye's on my altimeter for the first 1500' of climb and I really can't get out too soon.

The only part of falling out (at safe altitude) that scares me, would be the humiliation.
