Bruno

Shogun Assassin
I laughed so hard.

If you dont want to see a man's pee hole talk dont go see bruno.

lol

lol burn. i love the message involved. no matter how hidden it is. ive seen 3 times now. its good to laugh really loud again.

Why all his characters are some kind of retards (Ali G, Borat, Bruno)?

Because his humor comes from the way people react to the "retards". He is exposing the hidden and not so hidden racism / homophobia in people (in particular Americans) by playing to their stereotypical views of gays and minorities. Borat / Ali G / Bruno are not meant to be accurate portrayals, but outlandish caricatures designed to provoke a reaction and reveal people's true feelings...and because it's funny.

I am not familiar with americans attitude to racism / homophobia. It's OK to provoke a reaction, but I don't like the way Cohen uses. I never understood Jack Ass jokes too.

OK, I will shut up, this tread not about me :) It is about Bruno :)

its not your fault that you dont understand ZetKey.....its all goode...

This movie along with Borat is for people who enjoy laughing and having a good time, thats the best way it could be put. Nevermind the hidden social lessons that tehy are trying to expose... after all is said and done..its still a funny comedy with humour that not everyone will appreciate.

i will see Bruno in a day or so..cant wait... i think Cohen and Charles are great together.. i enjoyed Ali Show and of course Borat..this will be super funny.

I laughed myself sick watching Borat.

Bruno left me pretty cold. Sure, there were a few laughs to be had, but overall it just...wasn't...very...funny.

Of course, humor's a very individual thing.

It's slapstick...stupid comedy type of film but the man is a genius. He made himself a millionaire doing the most stupid but very funny gigs on film.

Thumbs up for the guy.

And the creator of the Pet Rock made millions of $$$ selling people stones in small boxes.

When did we land on this idea that simply because something makes money, it must be brilliant?

Indeed, not everything that makes money is brilliant. I won't argue with you there. However, anyone who can turn something into millions is a genius in my book...just my book...including the Pet Rock creator whom I have never heard of until now. Sacha Cohen's ideas may not be brilliant but he sure is brilliant in making people pull out those 10 bucks and make him a millionaire many times over.

Still two thumbs up for the guy because it sure ain't me who is counting the millions.  :)

yah but whats brilliant to you might not be brilliant to someone else.. back to the whole subjective thing

some ppl enjoy borat or bruno or police academy....while others think they are garbage...

who cares what ppl think... obviously Cohen is doing something right, and i dont belive its all marketing, a turd is still a turd.

I went to see this with my (grown) daughter, and had my head dropped into my hands about the time Ron Paul was in the hotel room with Bruno. I simply couldn't watch it anymore. Most of the people in the theater were laughing, but it might have been that nervous uncomfortable laugh people let out when they simply don't know what else to do. And like an answered prayer, the film suddenly flipped upside down and inverted. People were talking backwards. Scenes were running in reverse sequence. Then the house lights came on and the theater manager started handing out two free movie passes to each person and apologizing for not having reviewed the film before running it.

What made Borat funny was the cultural innocence/ignorance of the character in these situations that he confidently went into, but didn't belong in.

I think they tried to do the same thing here (and in all Cohen concepts) but I don't think it's in the same category.

Funny things happening from stupid (uncultured, genuinely ignorant) innocence is WAY funnier then "funny" things happening from arrogant innocence.

A character can be unaware that he doesn't fit in due to cultural differences... or at least it's funny if he doesn't know it... but nobody would wear ultra-gay outfits and not KNOW that they appear ultra-gay. Borat was quirky and funny looking in a very subtle way until he started interacting with people... and then the real comedy was in the interactions... not really using his subtle comedic details in appearance.

Bruno isn't remotely close to that... it has nothing to do with homophobia, as far as comedy is concerned. If he were dressing up as a natzi or something like that... and pretended to not understand why people didn't deal with him like a normal person... the comedy would still have an uphill battle with me.

are u for real? i feel bad for you and your daughter. Do you live in some small town where Jesus rules them all?
