Broken tripod "insert" on DVX.

Sorry... didn't really know what to call it, but the threaded insert thing where the tripod plate would screw into the bottom of the camera broke in half. The metal broke, then fell out through the bottom of the camera, and now there's just a hole there.

It's not my camera, but a friends, and I'm not sure how he did it, but I told him I'd try and figure out how to fix it. I've searched a bit, but didn't come up with the answer I was looking for.

Would someone like "Fry's" carry those? It has to happen quite often on camcorders and cameras, so I'm thinking it's not that big of a deal, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, you guys know how to fix it? he needs his camera for a shoot THIS weekend. Argggg!

Ummm, call Panasonic. Didn't I just read or hear that they're easy to replace? Is that just on the B?

A friend of mine had this happen kinda when someone picked up the camera by the top handle with a tripod attached. It ripped the thread right out. He had to send it in for repair.
If your looking for a temporary solution, I don't have a suggestion that wont damage the camera more.

I believe a user on this site was making and selling sturdier bottom plates for the DVX. But I don't think you'll have it by this weekend.
