Broken spreader on my Manfrotto 504HD - 546B tripod

I've broken the spreader on my 504HD - 546B tripod. It has broken the cast piece where the spreader connects to the legs

Anybody had this issue and what did they do about it?

I see you can buy another spreader but this seems to be a design fault more than anything else.

I had the same on my spreader and I returned it as a waranty issue. Have not heard anything yet - two months ago.

I had this exact product months ago before going with another brand, and had the same issue.
After speaking with Manfrotto they informed me they would ship it out ASAP and I would receive
it before the weekend (sent out late Wednesday afternoon).

Got it Friday before a shoot. Saved me a lot of grief. It snapped on a previous shoot earlier that week.
I was definitely at their mercy.

Called them up I was not asked about any serial numbers or even any invoice history (Ordered from B&H).
They just asked my address and I explained my shoot situation (Needed soon like everyone I'm sure).
No problem never had to return the old one nothing. They saved me a lot of headache.

Wonder if I got lucky? Have to say I was quite happy with their help and the turn around.

Auscar, where did you purchase the tripod? Manfrotto products do offer a good warranty, and where you send it depends on where you purchased it through.

Stance...You got lucky. Manfrotto USA, for me, has been glacially slow with a bad attitude.

It took more than two months to receive the spreader in working condition and the same thing with a broken screw on the 504 head. Man are they slow! Lucky I had a spare spreader to use.

Since then I've moved away from the 504/546 combo. Sold it and now have a Sachtler head instead which is much better.
