Broken pan drag control on Miller DS-10

So I picked up a Miller DS-10 tripod system on eBay a while back, and have been happy with it other than the fact that the pan drag dial is broken. It just twirls around loosely but doesn't affect anything.

Now, the tilt drag (which is vital for counterbalancing) works great, and the "default" pan drag setting is actually at a very useable level, so this isn't a huge deal. But I was wondering if anyone has encountered this type of problem and if it would be expensive to fix.

I have a Miller DS-5 from ebay and it does this as well. Not only that, but the head panning got real sticky after a while and it annoyed the hell out of me. I researched a bunch of new tripods at a trade show and fell in love with the Slik tripods. I ended up buying one of these last year: DST-33 and have never looked back. Just two weeks ago, I bought another because I loved it so much and wanted it for my second camera rather than the Miller!

Sure it happens, someone overtightened and broke it. You can send the tripod to Miller and get it repaired. Usually, if it's not serious, $100 or less minus shipping. True the pan lock is not as crucial as the tilt lock. If it doesn't bother you, leave it alone :)
