Broke the dry spell!

Just got cast as an ER Nurse on "Three Rivers"! It's a featured role, and just for the day, but good enough for me.

I love when the director asks me how I would do something! Does the old ego good.

Was both a RN in the ER then got promoted to Surgical resident on a Transplant Team.

Took the guy's heart out.

woo hoo darling! good for you. feels good i know. Doc...see what happens when you stick with it...tickled pink for you!

i just got another indie film (supporting) and a stage show (small lead) and did a voice over for a feature english translation (supporting).

even better...1 student just got a regular on a tv series shot in the south east! other students are getting work but was proud for this one because she is new and will be a regular....woo hoo. i feel like a proud mom.

and rumor has it ALMTF got in yet ANOTHER film festival but not allowed to say yet...grrr

Well then, congrats right back at you. Yeah, I got pulled aside today, and asked if I want to be a "regular" on the series. The Technical Advisor told me to brush up on my surgical knowledge and offered me some books for when I am on set.

Don't know exactly what that will mean, but it sounds good.

I am needing advice that is well thought out. I need people look deeper into the issue than just a knee jerk response when I ask this.

Let me lay out the situation.

My normal day job is for a family owned company (name withheld) that is gaining a lot of ground in the audio industry (our mic was used exclusively on Taylor Swift's vocals in the recording studio for her latest album). I am the Exec. Assistant to the owner, the Quality Control manager/engineer, and I do most of the shipping/receiving for the company. As a new company, they cannot afford to pay me what I am worth and they really acknowledge that. But I am also an actor and that is where my love is.

This company has really done a lot for me. They replaced my Explorer with their old minivan ($1000) when mine was totalled. Gave me the minivan and let me make payments. The owner of the company actually makes me lunch everyday, as I work at their home office.

But now to the flip side. I have been offered a regular role on a major network show, and you will know which one based on the above posts. But it is TV, and you never know when the episode could be cancelled.

So maybe you can see my confliction. Advice?

Sort of tough to turn this one down. Work begets work, especially for network series. See what the time commitment is and see if the present company can accommodate you at all while you figure it out. Sort of a leap of faith. Good luck to you, Doc.

Update:

I sat down with the owner and had a heart-to-heart with her and basically explained the situation.

She understands completely, but she was a little disappointed. I can continue with the company, but I need to train my back-up/replacement, just in case. But she knows my love of acting.

But I have been given the go ahead to pursue it, while paring down my hours there as needed for the show.

Man these guys are so cool. Screw it. if you guys ever need high quality studio recording mics/gear, check out avantelectronics.com.

Thanks, DadinWinchester. I called the CD and accepted her offer. Now just waiting to see what days I am needed on set and a schedule.
