I'd like to know what British films Americans secretly or openly like or love. I read Empire magazine and of course the majority of movie reviews are about AMERICAN movies. America this, America that.

NICE!!!! Could you understand the Scottish accent in Trainspotting? i wonder if they have subtitiles for people to read from around the world who arent familiar with the strong Scottish accent.

Can't say I had a problem with the accent. Your kiwi mileage may vary.

I'm English, I just live here, been here 3 years now. Escaped the UK rat race.

Thinking of coming to USA actually to crack the movie scene. Try and get an acting part.

If Sam Worthington can do it, why cant I?

For me, it's hands down "28 Days Later". It changed filmmaking and showed that a truly great film can be made using DV. Gives people aspiring for success hope that it really can happen.

Some great films listed there. Anyone like slightly older British films as the Powell and Pressburger films or Ealing Comedies?

Performance-
Nil by Mouth-Gary Oldman wrote and directed
Singing detective-(Michael Gambon version) I know it was a miniseries but its really good.
Hope and Glory

Easy!!!

Ritchie's staple films: Lock-Stock, SNATCH and ROCKNROLLA

L4yer Cake

28 Days and Weeks later

This is England

Run, Fatboy. Run.

Shaun of the Dead and The Fuzz.

I have never liked an effing second of Monty Python. I mean, I get the comedy, and sure I dropped a laugh when I used to watch it stoned in High School, but for the most part, I just couldn't jive on it.

I tend to gravitate towards darker, grungier films, so Ritchie could have made his films in America and I'd still dig the shi* out of them. Never saw Swept to Hell, or whatever it was called, based on shi* reviews from trusted friends. REVOLVER was seriously cool, but too Linklater / Southland Tales weird for my taste.

A Zed and Two Noughts
The Ploughman's Lunch
The Wicker Man
Excalibur
Zardoz
The Limey
The Crays (British crime movies are f*cking brutal...)
The Abominable Doctor Phibes
The Bedsitting Room
Village of the Damned
10,000,000 Years to Earth
