I'm too tired to write this all out but here's the basic story as of now.

I bought 2 briteks with softboxes sunday evening from rostronics. (1000w each)

I have a video shoot tomorrow early after noon

the lights arrived in time.

Didn't get the barndoors that were suppposed to come with.

ONly one like had a bulb in it the other lamp was unloaded. Package came with one spare buld ina box. Opened box.... Bulbs completely smashed.

Now i'm really pissed.

NO ONE stocks teh right bulb for this. and even if i found some place they couldn't get it to me in time. Now i only have 1 1000w light for this music video. Great huh?

Now i just got an email saying that the keyboardist wont be there until late afternoon. WTF what are we supposed to do for all that time when she's not there? I swear to got this **** happens EVERYTIME i try to get something done.

Where in sam hell do I get another bulb taht will fit? If anyone is in the Kenosha, Milwaukee, GB area and has one to fit i will come get it and pay you for it. Someone help a brotha in need!!

aww I see no such place... so now i'm looking for any lighting place in the Milwaukee /green bay area

otherwise it's time to bust out the guerrilla filmmaking tacticts and pull something amazing out of my ass.

sorry to hear about your problems, all of my Britek stuff came in 100% great shape (bought from Rostronics), and Tom at Rostronics was VERY easy to work with regarding my orders, etc. Unfortunately all the niceness in the world isn't going to help you given that your shoot is the day after your equipment arrived.... I'm sure there was a good reason why you cut it so close to the shoot date when ordering lights, so I won't even inquire about that, but needless to say I feel your pain. Good luck on alternative options, maybe someone nearby Will be able to hook you up, any DVX shooters in your area based on the DVXUSER 'googlemap'? ;-)

Murphy's a real bastard. he's kicked me in the ass many times, but I just turn around and piss on that son of a *****. that's the attitude you gotta take.

when it get on real sets with real deadlines all kinds of things are going to go wrong and you have to put out the fires and make it happen regardless. If you don't, you'll never get hired again; theres to much at stake in this biz.

funny, I've lived my entire life with that name and apparently I've been granted immunity, guess it only affects the non-Murphys! ;-)

Sounds like you'll be shooting closeups. That ain't all bad. I know it sux ... but Roll with it bro......

Shoot one or two wides.... Hollywood the light across the band handheld.... shoot the rest on CU. Hell its a music video....get wacky! This could be the best thing that ever happened to you. .... Is there any stage lighting..... color cans?.....

Hollywood the light right up on the talent...fry 'em....blow it all out....shoot into the one light you do have.... Macro some closeups...it'll be over in 2.5 minutes....

Rock on!

Oh...guess I posted this late...heheh

No it's cool. That was kinda the general idea though. I know it's pretty hot in some shots but I figure it will all work out. There were color cans and stuff, but they weren't hooked up/ working. There will be another day of shooting in 2 weeks and I will have more lights for that.

Granted, it's quite a hike from where you are, but the Light House/Cinequipt in Minneapolis is bound to have everything that you would need in order to put your shoot together.

On the other hand, I royally hated most of the people who worked there when I used them. They act like a Hollywood rental house, but they're in the f*cking mid-west. Give me a break. Anyway, in a pinch, they are very well stocked. Food for thought.

LOL oh man... well i emailed Tom from rostronics and he's sending me a new bulb for the one that was smashed. And he said I can order through him or just take teh number to a place and they can get them.... although I couldn't find any even WITH the numbers and a day of looking. Even places that sold a rented lighting systems like that didn't even know what bulb that was or couldn't get one that high of a wattage. Maybe it's just where I am.

Yeah, filmtools has the right bulbs...

http://store.yahoo.com/cinemasupplies/dxw10quarhal.html

Those there look like the ones I need but the picture shows them as really short. My box says DXW 120V-1000WC5. The ones on filmtools show a few with 3 1/8" and one that is above 4. Mine is almost exactly 4 ". I will check the prices with Tom ( @ rostronics ) also. He says that he has tha bulbs and sells them at his cost.

hey what # do you call when you talk to tom? The # on their site always rings into a voice mail box that isn't accepting new messages.
