So I ordered a couple of the new 300W heads from Tom Rost at Rostronics (@ $68 each, you can't afford not to buy them!) and I was ruminating on whether or not you could actually make up a complete professional location/production kit of 4 or 5 fixtures and some accessories. You would have to make do without any fresnel lenses and you'd have to make or scrounge from other OEM's for scrims, gel holders, etc.

DVCreators have their Lowel DVCreatorKits, maybe we could come up with a really good couple of kits based on Britek and whatever else we decide and get Tom to sell them - what a really nice guy, BTW.

1. DVXuser Run-N-Gun 3-Light Kit
2. DVXuser Location 4-Light Kit
3. DVXuser Studio-Pro 5-Light Kit

Whaddya think folks? Do-able? How? ::)

I think that is a great idea. All I have right now is 2 flood lights and umbrellas. I've been looking at the Briteks. If we could get some cool kits going I would buy one.

That's a great idea! I don't know how extensive Jarred would want to get with reselling equipment, but I bet a lot of people would just eat that kind of thing up... include all the mandatory goodies like clothespins (C-47's) and spring clamps and all that, and come up with a complete package... whaddya say, J?

OK Barry, here's my first proposal just from the Britex stuff. Maybe you could start putting together some additional kit for each that we could add to it. 2 rolls gaffer tape, 1 50' and 1 25' stinger, gels, clips, etc. If we could put all the grip stuff in a separate little bag....

I say we talk this over with Tom Rost at Rostronics. He's a very agreeable sort of person. Whadya think?

Well, I put the suggestion up and I followed up with a proposal for the 3 different kits, now it's up to others to say, too little, too much, how 'bout a couple of these, etc.

I'm kinda waiting for Barry to come back to the thread with his accessories ideas, but it's a wide open forum, folks.

Dont do the gels. That's such a personalized thing, it would be too much of a hassle. Besides, I'm interested in getting one of the kits, but I have all the gels I need, and if I want more, I'd rather get them in person.

Hey Rogue, I keep meaning to get to it, but it's going to take some research to track down all the necessary components, and I'm trying to finish the script for the DVX companion DVD I'm working on. Probably won't be able to get to it until next week...

Barry, buddy, I wouldn't think of hassling you. I just wanted to make sure you're still with us on this thread. If you want to give me a list, I have every 2" thick B&H catalog printed - the stack nearly reaches my window sill - I'd be happy to track stuff down. In the end though, Tom Rost is going to have to find his own vendors for this stuff.

Is cinefoil the same thing as black wrap?
