Britek kit choices

OK, I'm pretty happy with the feedback here about Briteks, so I think I finally narrowed it down to 2 different kits from Rostronics (unless you can recommend a better Britek dealer). All of the other cool light systems like Arri and Lowel are too rich for my blood right now.

Here are the two choices I found:

http://www.rostronics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=1500Wfull3kit for $425

This appears to have all of the basic goodies for a beginner. Is it worth it to upgrade to focusable lights ($60 for both)?

http://www.rostronics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=dual600W3lightkit for $465

This one has dual power lights for more flexibility, although a little less overall power. It's better to switch individual lights off for close-ups than use a dimmer (color temp issue), right?

I've looked at quite a bit of stuff and want to buy soon, so I can get my learn on...

Thanks.

For Britek, Rostronics is the place to go in my opinion. I just purchased a couple of lights this past week and Tom was very helpful. I spoke with him and discussed each style before I bought mine. Ultimately I ended up ordering by the light instead of a kit. I wanted a GY650 light combo that doesn't exist on the site. I liked the round face of the 650 (the 300 has the same style by the way) and it will take various wattage bulbs. The GY650s and the 300/250 light are focus controlled but I'm not sure how much I like that particular feature yet (have only had them 2 days).

Ask Tom about the dimming question. I think I read people were dimming some of these (by adding their own parts) but I may be confusing them with some other light so don't bank on it without checking with the source.

I would encourage you to get in touch with Tom...

Typing fast here...hope this makes sense!!

Good luck
