Bringing Stills Back In

OK. 24PA. I dumped single frames from a clip, messed with them in PSP, then brought them back in.

The resultant clip never syncs up with the original clip or audio.

I've messed with the settings in the Editing tab...I think what I finally settled on is a duration of .042, since that says 1 frame at 23.<whatever>, which sounds to me like it should work.

It doesn't.

Anything else I have to adjust? Use a different duration setting? Only make silent movies?

What do you mean, "never syncs up"? From a time perspective? You want to use it as a single frame?

Bring it on to your timeline (at any duration, actually), expand the timeline so that you can edit single frames, and then trim the still event down to one frame.

Then make sure you remove the frame it's supposed to replace from the video.

. . .

Clarity was never my strong suit.

A clip of video -> export all the singles frames from it -> diddle them in PSP -> suck them back into Vegas and render them out as a new track to replace the original as if they were animation cells.

The audio from the original does not match the new video. It's real close, but not quite there, and the longer the clip, the more not-there it becomes. To me, that says the duration of the frames is wrong and it's screwing up the frame rate.

Usually (with the current settings) the resultant new video is a tad longer than the original. But "squishing" it to be the same size doesn't help.

It's odd. If you adjust the duration of imported stills in the Editing tab, it will say 1 fame at 23.<whatever-it-says> for multiple durations. And if you go below .042 if will say 0 frames...hmm...how can it be a 0 frame?

Maybe I'll try different ones and see what happens. Was just hoping someone else had already done this. :)
