What is the best way to bring your sequences together on a master timeline? As nested sequences, or copy and paste the orig sequences to the new timeline (not as nested sequences)?
I hear nesting can slow your system down. I have a lot of sequences to bring together (1 per scene in my film). Prox 2 hours of material. I want to continue editing when I bring them together. Is nesting still the best idea?
I've never experienced slowing down by nesting. The reason you would want to do nested sequence is so you don't accidentally screw up your edit when moving different elements around (like pasting over footage etc.). Nested the sequence and then do individual edit on the original sequences, Premiere will also make the changes in the master timeline.
I have noticed there are a few things you can do in the orig seq that doesn't automatically update in the master timeline. For example I extended a clip in my orig seq and it didn't move in the master, but it did allow me to extend/stretch the footage in the master. Also, when I shorten a clip in the orig seq it visually highlights the area in the master, but doesn't make the chance. I need to play around and learn all the things you can and can't do to the master when working with the orig seq. THX!
