bringing AIC clip into FCP 6

If I have the FCP sequence settings on AIC and import a clip converted from HDV to AIC, FCP tells me that the settings don't match the clip. It wants to change the sequence to HDV (and it does import without a render line). Yet QT Pro definitely sees the clip as AIC.

So, why is it that I need an HDV sequence for editing AIC, and not an AIC sequence?

Hard to say but you can always say no to the sequence change.
