Brief gamma "jumps" in FCP 7 when using Motion

After reading through many a post regarding FCP and gamma shifts, I'm guessing this is a very regular topic. I couldn't find any info on my situation in particular though, although I've tried troubleshooting it to some extent:

Basically, I have some screen capture footage from Camtasia that was converted to 1080 and exported as a Quicktime file, converted to ProRes 422 with Streamclip, and dropped in FCP 7. I'm combining this footage with .png files, where the footage is shrunk to about 40% using Motion to compliment PowerPoint slides.

The footage looks and runs fine on its own, and actually worked fine with Motion on my first couple of edits as well, but on my most recent edit, I noticed that the ProRes master output and Quicktime 7 output gets slightly brighter for a split second before Motion changes the footage "size," in particular when the shrunk footage is returning to 100%. This shift can be seen in both the .png file and the video footage.

I have other footage from a Canon DSLR that's set up the exact same way and there's no shift when Motion is used with this footage, so I'm assuming this must be an issue with the screen capture footage.

Here's a few observations I've noticed from troubleshooting it:
1) The "jumps" cannot be seen in FCP, and also isn't seen on the ProRes output file when it's self-contained. If it's not self-contained, the gamma jumps are present. However, when I compress the ProRes self-contained file to h.264, the gamma jumps suddenly appear.
2) I removed the .png file and exported with just the video footage visible, and the shift was still present (but only in the area where the video was present).
3) Per suggestions I tried turning FCP color compatibility on and off in Quicktime 7, and nothing changed.
4) I ran the output file in VLC to see if it was possibly a Quicktime 7 issue and the gamma jump was still present.
5) I also read that it may have something to do with the file being an interlaced clip and my settings are for progressive footage (which is possible since Camtasia has limited settings on the quicktime output), so I ran a deinterlace on it in Streamclip and reimported the file, didn't fix my problem.

My FCP 7 project is ProRes 422 (non-HQ) 1080p24fps. I'm running 10.5.8.

Any suggestions where I could look next or anything I could try re reformatting the footage or changing my FCP settings? I'm on a deadline with this video so I'm planning on making a day of this tomorrow if needed to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance, glad to be joining the DVXuser community, too!
