Hey guys ...

I need some advise ... I am in process of closing down on the equipment I am gonna order and need your advice ..

I am trying to make choice between 2 options . I mainly do not want to compromise on quality but am looking for the cost effective option ..

Brevis35 adapter ( with Flip) + Ikan 7" LCD monitor = $1310 + $849 = $ 2159

Brevix35 adapter ( Non-Flip ) + Ikan 7" LCD Monitor with option of horizontal and vertical flip. = 850$ + 945$ = $1795

To combat the option of the flip situation in the most cost-effective manner. I feel the second option would be a better option ...

1) cheaper option
2) lighter setup
3) lost of less light

Am i thinking right ???

I just would like your feedback on whether my thought process..

Hi Ksadani,

I own a Brevis Mp.1 with flip module that I often use it with an Ikan V8000HD. I recommend using the flip module since it's much less of a hassle for framing unless you can mount your monitor upside down or your camera can flip the image. Honestly, you really don't lose that much light. My flip module is pretty much always on unless I REALLY need a lighter rig (which doesn't happen very often). I highly recommend getting it, it saves the hassle and time of flipping and rendering in post.

The Ikan monitors works very well indoors but on a sunny day outside, if the 7" is the same as the V8000HD, you really need to set up something to block the sunlight from the screen since the image gets really washed out and hard to see. Usually I use screen shades but sometimes, when the sun's hitting hard, I use a dark cloth and put it atop the monitor to block as much light as possible, like on old photography gear from the 1900s'. It's a bit harder to shoot under these conditions, but it beats paying 1000$ more for a much brighter monitor if you're on a tight budget.

Hope this helps!

I'm not too fond of the V8000HD, it is way over priced for what it does. For $850 you can easily get the ManhattanLCD or the SmallHD which are both superior monitors.

I have to agree with Huy Vu, the V800HD is over priced and that good for the price, Manhattans and SmallHDs are a better bang for your buck

I just got my SmallHD DP1 a couple days ago and you really should consider it, i do my first shot with it and my LEX in a few hours.
