We've been gettting a number of questions on the Brevis REV2 to MP.1 update program. Most of our customers are already aware that the Brevis35 system is modular, and 98% of units we've sold in the last 2 years can be updated to the new MP.1 specifcation. The program is simple, and explained in the update purchase section of our site. Cost for the MP.1 update will hover around $180 depending on currency fluctuations.
Here are major highlights of the MP.1 from the viewpoint of REV2 users:
1. Runtime is much, much longer (about 32 hours) due to more efficient power management. Your runtime will likely average 34 hours. If you're using our powerpod with 2 external AA cells, your runtime will average 80 hours.
2. Oscillation properties are now microprocessor controlled...so therefore more precise. It literally runs like a clock. This does improve image quality.
3. Oscillation tuning is super critical, particularly if it's set too high. This will cause image softening, and is evident if you turn the unit on and off while monitoring on an HD monitor. Doing this with the MP.1 takes seconds...and is covered in the video university sections, and our new paper manuals shipping with each unit.
4. At 1 hour of run time remaing, the power LED starts flashing. If you forget to turn the unit off, it shuts itself down to prevent the internal cells from going flat. Charging or using the powerpod will get it going again in seconds.
5. The power switch is now low profile and protected by a rubber boot.
6. The motor and internal cells are now replaced as easily as the cells in a cordless phone, should that ever be required.
7. Firmware code that can be updated means that any future advancements can be uploaded to the units
The interchangeable imaging elements, micro-collimation lens mount systems, support for small/large cameras and our industry leading light weight, remain unchanged.
Response to the MP.1 has been overwhelming, but we're well prepared and orders are still arriving at our customers doors within 3-5 business days of ordering. Our official estimate on upgrade returns is 5 business days from the time of receipt.
With the craziness of NAB approaching I'll be pretty low profile here for the next week. I would like to take a moment to issue a heartfelt thanks for the great support our customers have extended over the last two years. We consider the MP.1 and it's feature set to be without rival in the marketplace. This is a direct result of our customer's relationship with us, and willingness to push us to a better place.
