Brevis question

sorry if this has been answered already, i looked back a few pages and found nothing...

but if i were to buy a non-flip module i could tech. operate fine with just an updside image i need to flip in post? and i could save $700 for now?

also if im operating on a HVX200a i want the 82mm step up, right?

Yes, but to operate a camera with the image flipped upside down is, to put it mildly, challenging. Certainly you'll screw up more than a few shoots before getting the hang of it, if you ever get used to it at all.

The HVX200a uses 82mm size, yes.

Yeah, i figured as much, but at least this way i can buy the brevis now and if by the time i shoot the short (july) have the money for the flip module i can always pick that up later, right?

I'm 100% new to adapters but i know i love the look of the brevis the best, besides the m2 redrock, but i dont feel like shooting through as much glass as the redrock has.

I would still grab the flip module, it increased the edge to edge sharpness back when I had my Brevis. Grab one used if you can.

If you have a monitor you can flip its no big deal. If not personally i think your nuts to shoot upside down though perhaps if you do it enough the camera will seem right and the rest of your world upside down. What the hell tough you could give it a try, just don't expect it to work. You may surprise us all.

lol, yea. Trust me I feel you guys. But as I'm sure you know ... money is tight with these things, with crew and talent working for free (calling in all favors this summer) the budget of the film is getting upwards of $2700 for an unemployed freelance videographer ... it's pricey, hah.

PS. I'll try to find the flip module used, I've been surfing ebay each day now that i have my tax returns. Crossing fingers.

if you're tight on money i would spend money on a monitor instead of the flip module and flip the monitor like was mentioned previously. You'll need a monitor anyways to pull focus so you kill two birds with one stone.

Truth is shooting upside will probably be a waste of money - get a monitor - you need one to focus anyway - very hard with an HVX and an adapter.

Thanks for the suggestions all! I'll get on it. I have around 4 months left to figure this out and get what I need, so we'll see.

Also what cheap GOOD monitor would you all suggest?

I found a friend of a friend actually (luckily) looking to part with a brevis with flip, rods, and shoulder rig all for $1500 to me. So works out! thanks for the help and suggestion guys!
