I am curious as to what settings brevis and hvx owners use on this forum? I shoot with the slr lens at af2.8 f stop. With the hvx i shoot a 2.8. I have a feeling theres a way to get a sharper image. Should i be using a wider number? And just pour on a ton of light?

thanks

Put HVX on f4. Lens can go down to 2.0 or 1.8 no problem. The downside is much harder focus. I seriously suggest the purchase of the panasonic BTLH-80w monitor. Since I bought it, I never had focus/sharpness issues again. Why? The magic of "focus in red"!

I completely agree the panasonic monitor has made my life so much easier.

To get the sharpest setting I've been keeping the HVX iris open to a 4 and shooting with the 50mm lens at a 2.8 to a 5.6 and have gotten some great results.

i've had the best results by never closing my nikon lens down below f4. i try to stay at 2.8 & do all my stopping down in the camera. also, i've had great results with the BTLH-80 monitor as well. even if it did cost more than my car...

Isnt that sad....Ill drop 2k on a monitor, but when I had a car I drove 800 buck beaters.

I guess its the same reason why I had more film stock in the fridge than food all through college.
