Brevis Flip footage

I finally got a chance to go out and play with the new Brevis Flip along with Kwan and his Letus flip. Some of the shots are a little soft because I was still getting used to it.
Here is one of those "day in the park" joints I used to do. I totally love this thing and can't wait to play some more.

Music by Justin R. Durban off his Album "Keys"

Enjoy.

thanks for the vid aram. i notice soft edges in some shots but i guess some lenses were pretty wide. what was your iris on cam and lens aperture? any improvement with the flip compared to non flip?

Some great shots there Aram. I'm a huge fan of the wide glass at low angles..sweet. Kwan, I see you managed to sneak into a few frames too :-)

I was wondering if you noticed the soft edges. I was under the impression that with the flip you get good edge to edge sharpness. I am having the same issues.

The aspect ratio is just a crop from sorenson squeeze. Don't know what it would be equal to. I just used the LCD to view so I couldn't tell if anything was 100% in focus so the edge thing I haven't looked at. The only way to tell though is to shoot something that you know is in the focal plane all the way through so I think footage like this would be hard to judge anything like edge to edge because nothing is exactly on the same plane in any of the shots. The wide on there was a 17mm and a 28mm.
Yeah Kwan has a cameo and its my favorite of the shots when he looks up.

The edge softness is pretty obvious on shots where you're focused to infinity but the edges are still fuzzy. In fact most of the wide angle shots have so much dof that the whole plane should be sharp. I used to have similar issues with my M2. Have you tried stopping the camera iris down to at least 5.6 to see if this helps?

No I haven't played that much with it. I just took it out and shot stuff and focused the best I could with the LCD. Some of the shots were stopped down almost to 9ish with no ND and in the 2ish area with the ND on. I couldn't tell you if the lens was all the way to infinity either when I shot those. I'm thinking maybe not because I don't remember hitting the end of the turn in any direction during shooting. Next time I will pay attention to all these things and have a monitor with me so I can see what I'm doing instead of just playing. Maybe tomorrow i can run down to riverside park and shoot some more but the rest of the week and weekend is pretty much full.

that one panasonic/firestore shot is crazy. the guy's carrying it around like rocket launcher... looks so dangerous!!!

thats some super wide aspect ratio too! reminds me of steven's d. hdv2 clips. they are super wide!

Shots are great....... Liked the slow mo on Kwan and skateboarders......... Got me all siked up. Plan on doing some test shots when my work stuff slows down. i'm feeling Kwans' Zacuto Base.... I'm looking to do a similar set up with brevis or letus ("still researching"). Hope to get alot of ques. answered at Bootcamp this weekend.
Again Aram, super footage...(lol.... I like your "just went out and shot/ not sure of settings answers") but then .... it's the HVX....

Hey Brownhood, thanks. Yeah I never look at the settings. People always ask what zoom number and focus number and I'm like...I dunno. I just twist this here and twist that there and hope for the best. :)

Aram, this statement below is begging to be placed on a Cinevate T-shirt. Priceless :-)

LOL... Its true. I keep thinking I must be behind the times because I don't keep up with knowing what setting I'm at.
Thanks Kwan. :) How did your stuff come out? I have another friend that wants to tag along when we go back out again.
Yeah that was Battery Park near the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry shots didn't make the cut though.

My test was pretty nice like our network.
I did not have a chance to download my footage. My FS100 is sent to the manufacture for inspection/repair a broken battery connector. I may have to wait.
We all (NYC HVX user) should do this more often "twist this here and twist that there and hope for the best" (LOL...)

Yikes!
You jinxed yourself when you said you never have any problems with it. :P

On the back of that shirt it should say "Don't get it twisted"
