Brevis Adapter - CF1LE vs C2LE

Hey Guys need advice on the two diffusers with the Brevis adapter.

I'm doing an outdoor shoot tomorrow so I don't really want to be changing diffusers out in the open. I just got a Brevis adapter with CF1LE & CF2LE diffusers.

Im using a Zeiss Planar 1.4 50mm. I want to get a really good DOF and was wondering should I use the CF1LE or should I change it to the CF2LE. SInce its night time here changing it over to test wont do much good and i'm leaving early morning.

Does anyone know what kind of look each one gives? And would you suggest changing them over?

Pros and Cons?

Cheers,

Sean.

I'm a bit out of the loop these days, but last I remember...

cf1 is going to give you the best light efficiency.

You'll lose a bit of light efficiency with the cf2le, but should have more diffusion, meaning potentially more pleasing bokeh and dof over cf1. But, it will lose more light. about .5 stops if I remember over cf1

cf1 = maximum light efficiency
cf3 = maximum diffusion

and cf2 would be the middle ground.

I might not suggest changing them over if you've never done it before since you are about to shoot in the morning. I've heard it's quite easy once you have done it a couple of times, but you certainly wouldn't want to leave a nasty fingerprint or have any other issue pop up the night before a shoot and end up fubar'd.

I wouldn't recommend making a change like that unless you have ample time to do so, and test first.

Jason

There is a comparison on the Cinevate site between the 3 imaging elements (in their Cinevate University section). Personally I couldn't tell the difference.

Just make sure you have enough light or you'll see on screen grain with the 2.

when you say good DOF what exactly do you mean? Deep depth of field or shallow depth of field, or Bokeh quality?

If you want deeper depth of field use the cf1. Shallow, cf2. Bokeh quality,Cf2.
