Brevis+35mm cinema anyone?

Hi,

I was wondering if there's anyone out there using the brevis with 35mm cinema lenses. I have just bout the following:

LOMO OKC5-18-1 f=2.5 / 18mm
OKC11-35-1 f=2.0 / 35mm
LOMO OKC1-50-6 f=2.0 / 50mm
OKC6-75-1 f=2.0 / 75mm

Before spending like 400$ on the mount (I don't know which brevis mount would be necessary for these) I'd like to be sure it works and that it is worth the money to upgrade from my nikon.

cheers,

Rafa

The lenses have just arrive along with the konvas...I played with them a little bit and they are thing of beauty...but I really don't know how well they would react with the brevis. Isn't there anyone out there who has tried it???

P.S - Is there such a thing as a OCT19 to nikon adapter?

I have a set of OCT-19 lenses that I use on my Brevis. Works great, looks great. While I have a lot more Nikon lenses, the russian ones breathe less (still breathe tho) and definitely have a unique look. I like them a lot.

But yes, you'll need to get the OCT-19 mount from Cinevate for them to work. (I've never heard of an OCT-19 to Nikon mount adapter.)

good luck,
Garrett

Hi Garrett,

Thanks for the info. Would you happen to have any footage I can take a look at? It would help a lot, since I've heard that the wider angles tend to vignet or tend to lack edge to edge sharpness. Do you really think it's worth the upgrade from nikon to OCT-19?

again many thanks,

Rafa

Hey Rafa,

I don't have any footage that I'm allowed to share, but I can shoot some test footage for you - it just might take a few days until the weekend. I haven't noticed any vignetting with my 35mm lens, but I don't have any wider to test with. (I have a 35, 50, 75 set - I have yet to track down an 18mm, 20mm, or 24mm)

Personally, I love using the Russian lenses. They have the focus gears, they breathe less, they're inexpensive, great bokeh, and I love the look that they give. I can't really describe it, but you can definitely tell the difference. I'm glad I got the adapter - but I still use the Nikons quite a bit as I have a lot more of them - especially in the low or upper telephoto ranges.

Garrett
