Brevis 35 Aspect Ratio

So i'm considering ordering the Brevis 35 based on some of the great test footage i've seen on this forum. There is one question I did have though...

What aspect ratio does it shoot in? I had assumed it shot the standard 16:9 HD, but then i'd seen a few test shoots in a wider 2.35:1 style. Is this optional? Or was this footage simply cropped at that aspect ratio?

The aspect ratio is determined by the camera's sensor shape and recording format, the Brevis doesn't change that. You can still record 4:3 and 16:9 as determined by your camera settings.

Anything wider than 16:9 was cropped in post.

I guess the other major thing to consider is the mount type. I was thinking of going with the Nikon. Does it basically just come down to personal preferance and prices of the lenses?

pretty much. Nikon seems to be a popular choice on these boards for everyone. Its what i got with my RedRock M2 for our HVX200 here.

nikon's pretty standard. good glass, also gives the option of going with tamron or something if you need to go the cheap route
