Breavis steadycam like unit needs rods

Greetings Friends,

I have a very specific situation I'm trying to troubleshoot and wanted to check the HVX collective before purchasing anything.

I have an HVX200, Breavis35 HD w/ PL mount. I plan to put a set of Zeiss Primes.

I'm attaching this rig to a Magiqcam IIa (an inexpensive version of the SteadyCam). It has a Bogen 3273 Quick Release and Base Plate.

In order to focus the Zeiss lens I'm using a wireless Seitz with Heden M26P motor. To use the wireless system I have to have a set of 15mm rods. However it does not appear that the Bogen 3273 has the ability to attach rods to it. Is there another base plate that does allow for this?

I've also seen at the Cinevate site the Breavis-to-Rails and Rails-System, yet there are very few specs on these items. Will the Rails-System work over the Bogen 3273? If so how long are the rods? Has anyone tried the Rails system out?

This may not be clear to everyone so feel free to ask questions.

Sincerely,

Salvador, any tripod plate with a 1/4" 20 screw (standard) will attach to ours, or any one elses rails. I have used the Brevis with a glidecam 4000 variant, but with the PL mount, Zeiss lens and your focus controls, plus the HVX, you're talking a pretty heavy load. I'd say your steadicam should be able to handle at least 10-12 pounds to support all of this. The Brevis itelf is only 270 grams, but add everything else, and you've got a serious package. I'll post up some A1 footage of everything mounted on my stabilizer setup shortly.

Thanks Dennis,

The unit can handle 15 lbs. so I should be safe. Thanks for weight of the Brevis. I went ahead and ordered the rods Brevis brace. Do you have a weight listing for the rods themselves? Also can I make certain that they'll ship with my original order or will they take extra time?

No worries on the rods/clamps. They won't hold up the order at all. If the adapter itself was as simple to manufacture as the support systems, we'd have zero lead times :-)
