Breaking Bad

Also, I think Walt's progression is pretty natural. Rememeber at the end of last season, he didn't specifically murder the girl, but he did sit there and let her die.

Now, he's moved up to taking action in an even more dire situation. The thing about Walt is that when the pressure is on, he always seems to be willing to do what needs to be done. This has been extremely consistent throughout the show's run.

Also interesting that again, he chooses Jessie above all...

The finale was unrelenting tension from beginning to end. Made my palms sweat. My only complaint is that it was too short, I think it actually was to make room for the rubicon premiere. While I'm sad we have to wait for more, I'm glad the show creators have a chance to breathe again as I saw the faintest of cracks starting to develop in the show this last season with the fly episode. Hopefully they don't have a lapse like that again.

I wasn't aware this was the finale, thought it might be next week. So I was caught abrupt when the credits rolled.

No shortage of tense scenes in this last episode. I'm so engrossed in this show I feel like I'm involved in their criminal activities.

Too long of a wait. Its been almost a year now since Season 2 ended. I believe you have to wait until this Fall. Please tell me its earlier.

Yeah, it was a great opener...But I will say I felt just the slightest twinge of the show feeling too familiar to me. This is a personal thing, but I generally find I can't sustain enthusiasm for a show beyond three seasons and I felt just the tiniest bit of that sensation last night. But the show is still firing on all cylinders.

I know what you mean. Nothing anyone did last night felt out of the ordinary or unexpected for their characters.

It was a pleasant surprise that we found it on the DVR tonight, but I gotta agree with the last two posts.

The tease for next week looks good, though.

SPOILERS

i like the series and think that some of the episodes were very well directed..
however, for me it's still just a very good series, nothing genius.

for instance, the season 4 opener:
in terms of directing- very good.
but the plot and writing were showing (which is not good):

1. the box cutter was given so much attention that it was obvious some throat will be cut with it.
2. once Gus came by and started to 'prepare', i knew that he would kill his boy. only option since he was careless when checking Gale's apartment.
3. Gus was totally out of character, killing the boy so bloody and dirty. he would never act like this, even just to make a point. so once he actually did it, it felt cheap.
4. it is soooo obvious that now, after finding the lab notes in Gales place, Hank will hear about it and this and the hunting obsession will cure him miraculously.

i mean, when high quality writing is crucial, these examples are real downers.
anyone agree?

If Breakinig Bad starts to suck, I could see people analyzing things a few years from now:

"The show 'jumped the shark' when Skylar found out Walt was a drug dealer.":grin:
