breaking a filter

Hello,

I own a diopter filter, but I was wondering how I can break it? So only half of my image gets magnifyd. Any idea's how to do this? My dad thinks a glass cutter wont do. And smashing it with a hammer might break it into 100 bits.

Any good idea's?

Cheers

Dremmel with a grinder blade? What are you actually doing, because depending on the configuration of the optics, half a lens often makes no difference except to clarity. To get a different image either side of the cutting line means the lens must be in just the right spot. For instance, a lens in a light source can sometimes go for ages without anybody noticing half of it fell out.
