Break it down for me David and Barry

Originally I was going to upgrade (finally) to V5 but now we have V6. I was sent the email (along with all of us I am sure) to upgrade to:

Upgrade to the newest Vegas+DVD Production Suite

Dolby Digital AC-3 encoding software

Bonus software
Boris® Graffiti LTD and Boris FX LTD for Vegas software, the Magic Bullet® Movie Looks™ HD 50 plug-in, and the Limited Edition Sony Pictures Sound Effects™ sampler CD.

My question is; I will be sticking with DV (The DVX100) for a long time. Is this worth my upgrade or shall I just go with V5; or is this a no-brain question? I have ZERO intention of using HD unless of course one of you guys buys the new Pani in WIlmington  (Could'nt resist that.)

What are the laymans terms on this upgrade?

Just go with 6. There’s far more than just HD added (and stuff your HT Xeon processor can take advantage of), and really, between DVDA2 and DVDA3, you want 3.

(Come on, dude; same price. This is a no-brainer.)

DAMn i was hoping you guys would say dont get it..

now i have to grab it.. i JUST got vegas 5.x and dvd a2.x like 2 months ago..

i guess 200 bux aint a lot for the upgrade... but that money was for my PSP.. :(

My only problem is that once I upgrade to V6 I won't feel whole unless I also upgrade my crummy 2GHz P4 to a dual 3.2 GHz Xeon with HT. (hmmmm, I think I just found the excuse I'll use on my wife why I HAVE to get the new PC).

Exactly what happended to me with V4. Do it! Do it!

John, actually I think my question is the dumbass question of the week. I just installed the demo of Vegas 6 and I notice that, when I go to render an HD avi, it defaults to rendering in the Cineform codec. Is that codec what they mean by "Native HDV"? Is the Cineform codec included with Vegas 6? If so,...wooot!

..and don't forget....the number 6 is one louder than 5 ! :)

Mine is in the mail!

------------------------
Nigel: ...the numbers all go to eleven. Look...right across the board.
Marty: Ahh...oh, I see....
Nigel: Eleven...eleven...eleven....
Marty: And most of these amps go up to ten.
Nigel: Exactly.
Marty: Does that mean it's...louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it?

Yes, and since my amplifier knob goes up to "12", it is louder than amps with knobs that only go up to "10" :)
