Break down this setup

I was wondering where are all these materials are purchased (same quality and build) for this video -

http://www.hulu.com/watch/19302/saturday-night-live-iphone-the-affair#s-p1-st-i2

For example the muslin is quite neat (and wrinkle free)
The pipes and supports look solid (nothing that can easily be blown down)

I mean the sand bags are the usual (so no biggie there)

Also does anyone know if there are muslins that come pre-marked (with that crosshair)

I added a picture just in case you guys are unable to view the video

Well, for starters, the mark the talent is standing upon is just a couple of pieces of tape.

The stands are standard C-stands and gripper heads that you can get from companies that sell that sort of production equipment (I 'm not familiar with your area).

The crossbar is an aluminum tube. Metal supply houses will have them. Or you can also use a piece of 2x2 wood, which is just as stiff but may need either holes drilled or pegs inserted so that your support system will have something to attach properly.

I don't think those are c-stands, They are light stands, with the above mentioned gripper heads. I use some stands like that for some theater plays.....

Still don't know where to buy any of this, I see similar products but they don't look the same.
Seems those are Avenger stands (can't find the exact model though).

Man those speed rails are hard to find... Been looking on B&H and the links provided here nothing yet. If anyone can provide a good link please do.

http://www.hollaender.com/index.cfm?page=speedrail - its a brand name

I get buy with black pipe from Home Depot and fittings similiar to what they have here - http://www.mcmaster.com/ search for structural pipe fittings

To make what they have up there I'd just use a couple of light stands (or c-stands) with superclamps with grip heads. Grip head to the stand and superclamp to the pipe and you are set. I'd just sandbag everything so it wont come falling down on your talent. Or you could just get a backdrop hanger. I think avenger makes a pretty decent but cheap one.

I agree, you don't need speed rail for a single layer of duvetine. A BG holder or even a boom pole would do it.

I would say those would work fine. Not sure if B&H sells it but I buy 200 foot rolls of 60" Duvetine from FilmTools and I know that there are several places in NYC that selll rolls and large sheets of Duve.

Dantewaters,

Your profile says your in NY. You can get all of this stuff at B&H. Sometimes the on line catalog is not as good as going there in person to see for yourself.

If I may ask: Do you need a rig this complicated? I was looking at something like this for a project and was about to drop $$$ on stands and muslin when a colleague suggested a collapsible backdrop. I went with one by Botero:

Cheap, folds up nicely and looks professional. My only warning is that the material is sheer so don't position it between your camera and a bright light source as the light will shine through.

Cheers,
Bob
