brain went blank, how can i cut out a path selection of a photo...

normaiy i would do this in Photoshop but i do not have Photoshop (doing the best i can with AE). i know i have done this before but i have went completely blank as to how i cut out a section of a photo graph with a path? i need to cut out the body shape of a model from a photograph.

any help would be appreciated!
