boxing

Got a job for the NJ boxing federation to film fight nights for an online payper view. I think I am a one man band so far. I have an HVX with a redrock rig right now but I dont think id use the redrock. I also have a good fluid head tripod but im not sure if sticks is the best way to go. I have a glidecam but not a body pod. Whats the best way to shoot the fights?

I've had great success shooting ring fights with just a tiffen steady stick (and a stock XH A1, but your HVX sans the redrock would likely work great). The main thing you're going to want to focus on is your fluid mobility and camera handling while moving around... a lot, especially if you're going to do it via single camera.

Im thinknig just sticks until I can get a second cmera. If I rent a second HVX ill put one on sticks 24p and one handheld shooting 60p closeups and 24p closeups roaming for different angles.

If you have a good overview nest that you can put the HVX on sticks on, that'd be a great solution. If you're shooting ringside, you should have 2 x sticks + roamer. Of course, depending on the size of the boxing league, they may not care a ton about production quality and rather just care about the archiving of fights.

Also, due to obvious reasons, if you have any other cameras on sticks and you're shooting handheld, unless your second camera is in a quiet nest, then a cheapo assistant that can just monitor them and insure they don't get jarred or tampered with (accidentally or intentionally) is a must in that environment. If you check with a local film school program, you can probably get someone to PA for free even for experience.

Just my two cents, and they aren't really worth that much even.
