Thought I'd ask and hope to find some enlightenment on a subject that has puzzled me in the last few years.
How are some films NOT tallied in the Box Office report even though they've run on many screens?
Horsemen (Dennis Quaid, Lou Taylor Pucci) has recently been released by Lion's Gate in likely 70+ screens. I bought a ticket for it at Regal Cinemas (one of the few to do so the weeknight I attended) and it does not show up in the Box Office listings at Box Office Mojo or The Numbers.
Now, the reason I'd love to know is that I have a project that may see some theatrical light via unusual arrangements but I want to be sure that the B.O. is tracked and if there is something that I need to do to ensure that it is tracked, I'd love to know.
I mean if a Lion's Gate film is somehow lost in the shuffle, how will my little flick be counted.
Anybody with expertise (or I'd settle for credible hearsay)?
