hello all.

how would one create this karaoke effect in vegas? does anyone know of a plug-in or perhaps a standalone program that can do this? there must be something. i'm sure someone reading this has thought of, knows, or has done this before.

lemme know...

greatly appreciated,

It would be a manual track motion process. Don't know of any software that does it automatically . . . not sure how it could.

Yeah, surely the karaoke DVD producers don't do it by hand, so there must be professional tools out there somewhere. Problem is, they may cost thousands, or be proprietary stuff not available to the public.

I agree with David that full automation is most unlikely - you'd at least have to manually link each lyric word to its position in the timeline. But that wouldn't be so terrible, if the tool would do the rest for you.

thanks for the reply! right, i figure if there is some sort of program, that you would have to manually sync the lyrics with the music.

the manual track process seems as though it will be fairly cumbersome, i will see how it goes...

and ask questions when i can't get it right...

Most karaoke I've seen doesn't have a bouncing ball -- the lyrics either scroll, or the words change color as they're supposed to be sung.

Those are only for Final Cut. But I guess it shows that such a thing exists, though I'd still think it would have a be a largely manual process.

Using track motion keyframing, moving a bouncing ball around wouldn't be that hard -- and with keyframe interpolation envelopes, it should be pretty easy to get nice graceful curves to the motion.
