I just started Boujou and I have a few problems.
The biggest one is that the "camera solve" operation takes hours and hours for a 40 seconds vid.
The track feature operation is not very long, but the second one just seems to reveal there is a problem somewhere.
So, I guess some settings are wrong (I don't blame my PC, wich is not awesome but is still a "decent" quadcore with 4 G ram)

Now where do I go ?
There are a settings that I'm not sure about, like adaptive search window, or feature scale, maybe this is where the problems start, maybe not, I am quite lost so if anyone can help me here...
(The sequence I imported in Boujou is MPEG 4 .mov, just saying in case the codec could play a role here too)

More generally, if there are some good Boujou tutorials out there, I'd be glad to know about them.

Edit : I'm using Boujou 5 and plan on export datas in AE 5 by the way, if that changes anything.

I personally like PFtrack/Mocha, but everyone uses something different. As for why it's taking hours for a 40 second video, I'm clueless. Maybe you're making it calculate too many things? Or possibly track forwards, then backwards multiple times? I use a 2gb 5 year-old laptop and PFtrack can do a 60 second clip in a short time.

Another question, can we mask moving objects with boujou ?
I know its primary use is to tracks camera moves and scenes, but I just wanna know. Like, if I want to track a human body part moving.
I suppose I should use masks ? But then the only way would be rotoscoping manually right ? (maybe Mocha is more suited to this kind of task ?)

Edit : oh and by the way, the camera solve seems to work better now. For some reason the vid I converted had black frames in the end, maybe that's what was bugging Mocha.
Just tried it on another vid and it works.
 
Convert your video to an image sequence first then import that instead. Boujou isn`t that friendly with video codecs.

Masking moving objects is critical if you want to elimimate a moving object from a scene or isolate it.
 
Yeah, so rotoscoping is the only way, I should've guessed there would be no magic solution here :)
To track people, for what I've seen, Mocha seems to work better (Mocha which, by the way, isn't really friend with video codecs too, it seems. So I guess I should work with image sequences in both applications yes, thanks) when Boujou is actually more for scenery and such.
 
Try using Syntheyes. It's the fastest tracker available and loves video codecs. And yes, you will usually have to rotoscope moving objects, but Syntheyes and Boujou are pretty good at canceling out moving objects.
