Bought the 16:9 converter on Ebay but it has a few marks on the class

Hi

I just bought a very cheap Panasonic 16:9 converter on ebay for £200 about $300.

It's second hand so I wasn't expecting it to be cosmetically perfect but they did promise optically perfect. I've noticed that there are a few specs on the class, they seem to be on the inside so i cannot get to them to be sure if they are dust or scratches.

Any advice would be more than welcome, do the small speck even matter, should I try to open the adapapter and polish the inside of the glass with lens fluid and a soft cloth or should I just send it back to the vendor and demand my cash back?

Thanks ;o)

If anyone has some advice on how to get a response on my threads I be more than grateful. Mine seem to attract less attention and even fewer responses than most. Perhaps it's because I'm a newbie so the subjects aren't very interesting but if I'm not following any correct protocol please let me know.
Thanks
Dan

Well being how we cant see the scratches or dust, whatever it may be I dont know ideas aside from unscrew the glass and get a satin or very soft cloth that you are sure dosnt leave any resedue and clean in a circular motion.

Hey thanks mates, I'll take my chances and unscrew the adapter to get to the inside. I guess I just needed to hear that this was the right thing. Many thanks

Hey Dan,

If the vendor is willing to exchange your "adapter" for one without any "specs" then if I were you I would do so. If they don't feel that these "specs" fall outside of their normal limits, then you should evaluate the impact that these "specs" have on the usefulness for your intended application.

As for your query about not receiving any response from your post, I would point out two facts.

First off, your post heading has a typo in it making it very unclear as to its contents. It reads "...but it has a few marks on the class" I am certain that you intended to type "...glass". This makes it rather unclear what your subject matter is.

Second, you posted your question (first post from this thread) on what is a national Holiday here in the states (I am assuming that you are in the UK since your mention of price included that you paid £200 for the device). Then, less than 3 hours later your second post questioned why you hadn't received any responses?

I would suggest being very specific and accurate in the title of a thread (for me that bit of text is how I decided if I will look further into the contents) and a little patience wouldn't hurt either.

Just a suggestion as to how you might get a better reply ratio.
