bottom thirds for football score?

Can anybody tell me, or have a sample, how one would create a bottom third ( I think thats what its called, still learning the lingo) that one would use to display a football score?

in other words, team A just scores again and I want to display:
Team A 14
Team B 7

in the bottom right corner semi-transparently.

Thanks!
Greg

Hi greg121

Insert as Video Track and have it be on top of the game footage

Right Click inside that new track and select Text Media

In the Text Input Area that pops up type your score

Size it and choose your font

Select the placement tab and place it

Thats about it. You'll see all sorts of options for transperency, coloring, stroke, fill, etc etc within this menu that popped up

Thanks John! That absolutely does what I asked in my question.
Can I ask a follow up?

How would I display the same thing inside a 'bug' ( is that the right term?)
lets say this bug is a solid color (to make it stand out a bit) but doesn't take up the whole bottom of the screen, just enought around the text to have a border. Just like any football game you see on tv.

Thanks again.
Greg

Actually I'm good.. the properties and effects tabs (tracking/scaling) give me better ideas...

thanks.

For future reference

Look into using Media Generators or creating an image in PS and importing........

The key with VEGAS is getting familiar with the Pan/Crop options and using separate Video Tracks as layers.

Greg, if you've not looked at Ultimate S2, I'd suggest it. I probably sound like I'm really trying to pimp this product the last few days, but I just purchased it this past Saturday/Sunday and it had some GREAT lower thirds, some specific for sports. Also tons of other features I'm just scratching the surface with.

What John said was dead on ... just that US2 could save you some steps or give additional graphic ideas as well.

Envision, I noticed you were really pleased with Ultimate S2 from other posts... many others have said good things too. It is definitely on my list.

I know how to do text on different tracks, I just needed Hudson to give me a kick in the butt and basically say "click around, open your eyes" but in a nice way.

For me, I think I need to become better acquainted with photoshop - those skills could never hurt. Then I might be able to make a sig banner.

over and out.

Yep, overall design is something I feel I lack in, as well as in-depth Photoshop skills ... some of the banners or members' work on here makes me drool with envy.

Can one create a custom template or custom graphics to be used in Ultimate S2?

I am new to the forum and would like to say hello.

Thank you,
Duncan

You should be able to. US2 just takes the existing effects/abilities within Vegas & basically "pre-sets them", so you should be able to detail/trick it out to your taste. Though I've not tried replacing or using custom graphics myself, I'm 99% certain that you can.

You can indeed customize graphics from US2, just by editing them like you would any other veg. Currently though, once you edit the graphic, it's not recallable to the original, so you'll want to save it under a new name if you want the original.
FWIW, we just released the Holiday Expressions pak of lower thirds and graphic overlays.
We're looking for other graphics if anyone wants to submit a proposal for overlays for US2.
