Boston thread...closed?

1. No Politics
We've tried it and it doesn't work. There are many other sites where you can discuss politics, just not this one.
'Politics' includes not only directly political content, but any controversial topics, current affairs, or other news-related issues. If you see something non-film-making related reported in the media, and you know there are strong feelings about it on either side of the issue, please do not bring it up here. The 'no politics' rule also extends to discussing the political content of films and television shows, or to videos with political content, even if posted for a video-related purpose. The Mod staff may grant very limited, specific exceptions in cases of exceptional film-related interest, but only with prior approval, and any such thread will be heavily moderated. Moderators will make the final decision as to whether or not a specific post belongs on this site.

As much as I would like to discuss it.........David hit it on the head. The rules clearly say "No Politics" even if related to current events.

This is an international site. Any allowance of politics or politically charged discussions could be disasterous and could result in bad blood. LOL, have you read the Mac vs. PC threads? Or the FS100 vs. af100 threads? I think those are politically charged enough for this site. No need to add things outside filmmaking to get things heated up here.

Despite where your political views lay, by being a member here, you also have to look at yourself as an ambassador of your profession. And that means diplomacy and/or following the rules of the site, if diplomacy doesn't matter to you.

Maybe we can turn this thread into a "Boston" thread? Like, "I think the Bruins will win this year"
 
I guess the folks mainly involved in narrative film stuff don't understand (or appreciate) those of us who shoot news. There have always been distinctions between the two camps, almost like a class structure. I was most interested in the nuts and bolts aspect of the coverage, trying to figure out what cameras were producing the mpeg blocky mush and so on. The day after is especially interesting with all the cell phone and consumer stuff getting shot close in to the action coming to light. If you can't separate politics from presentation, you're missing the point. End of rant, I'm done.

No politics. If you want to discuss ENG techniques without violating the rules then use a topic that is NOT in the current news cycle, and not political.
