Bose headset?

I was using Sony as my headset during filming sound but thinking of using Bose instead. I use Bose for editing but haven't used it with filming. The wire on the Bose is pretty thin so not sure if that is a problem.

Any input?

No to Bose for either shooting or editing. The noise cancellation introduces colouration and makes the sound sound better than it really is. You want accuracy. You're not listening for pleasure.

Bose is for consumers, mainly because they dont know better. Bose is mostly marketing with not much quality to back it up. as far as consumer goes though they are about as much as most people expect (sadly). Real consumer sound starts with Klipsche. as for pro shooting and editing bose never has nor ever will have a place at the table.

If you're using 7506 when you shoot... take this simple challenge. Plug a set of Bose into a TV source (at the store, home, or wherever you can) then plug in the 7506. Which can sounds most "clinical" and which sounds the most treble-bassy super-club jam?

*ahem*

I mean which produces voices that are the most realistic... go with those.

You want the flattest response curve for shooting and editing (with the possible exception of extra mid-range... i.e. vocal... clarity)...

Try to do a comparison of the 7506, HD280, and the Bose... then decide. There absolutely is a "bose sound" that many consumers prefer... but few audiophiles enjoy. Years ago Bose had a speaker... the 101... I liked those a bit... but it's been a while since I've heard anything really clear and neutral from Bose... it's usually heavy lower-mid-bass... very little top-end detail... and just kind of a dallup of whipped cream in the middle.

Thanks - I will check with EVS when I'm in Los Angeles on Tuesday to see if they have something or is there a better place in the LA area to find good headset that won't cost an arm and leg?

WHY? Bose is not accurate enough to use for serious production (shooting or editing). The size of the cord is the least of the problems.

OTOH, if you already have one, you could just try it and see how you like it. But if you ask in places like this, you won't find anyone recommending Bose.
