I just made a skater dolly like the one that P+S makes, and so I have been spending a lot of time on their site, particularly watching their video clips of it.
In one clip, (click here, then click "boroscopes and periscopes"), it shows them using a tube/lens on the camera with some very interesting effects. It effectively makes it seem like the camera is a foot in front of where it actually is, allowing for shots where it seems the camera is going between small objects, like chess pieces.
P+S's explanation page can be found here.
I am wondering if anyone has any experience with these, who else makes them, and if anyone has ever heard of a DIY version I could work on for my next project. I understand a Periscope would perhaps be out of reach of a DIY project, but a Borescope can't be THAT complicated...?..
