Boris Graffiti - What Am I Missing?

OK; I've hardly cracked open the Boris Graffiti Keyframer which came with V5 any further than to see that the workflow and interface are similar to After Effects/Commotion/Etc.. Hadn't really encountered the need to do anything super-fancy with text, that I couldn't just do inside Vegas, until now . . .

All I want to do is take a line of straight text and bend it around a curve without distorting the letters. I can't find a way to do it. Maybe you can't, and it just needs to be confirmed, and that's fine too; I'll go letter-by-letter if I have to.

Yes, I know you can bend text a little bit in the Vegas text generator, but not enough, and you can't create the style of text I want with it.

So, any of you who know Graffiti in and out (if indeed any such person exists) -- am I missing something obvious or is it just not there?

I didn't get Boris Graffiti with my downloaded copy of Vegas 5 (it was an upgrade, maybe that's why, or else I just didn't see it...doh). But according to the above article, text on a path is doable in Graffiti. I've been using Boris FX for sometime, and it's a steep learning curve for me. The keyframer looks pretty much identical though.

Your post got me thinking. I envision text flowing in from the left hand side of the screen, last letter first, then following whatever path I have made. It could be a spiral or just a plain old hump in the path. It sounds like it would be easy.......lol

I thought that I didn't have it.....Boris Graffiti that is....

You know.....I went to the SONY website and downloaded Boris Graffiti LTD. Then I tried to install it and got stopped when it asked for a serial number. Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, I was stumped. Then, there before me on the shelf I spied the box! Low and behold....a Boris card with a serial number!

(I thought I downloaded it.... the receipt for the upgrade was dated 4/2004) I'm going to get the text on a path to work or fry this CPU trying!

Never mind.... from the User Guide:

Graffiti LTD is a limited version of the Boris Graffiti product. The Path tab is only
available in the full version of Graffiti.

Text on a path is not available in the LTD version.... :(

Yeah; I figured that out. :) Seems like a pretty basic thing which should normally be included in a LTD -- a simple text curve, anyway.

Is it something you could do in Photoshop maybe?

Yes, if it's just static text it's easily done in Photoshop, Illustrator or Corel Draw. It can then be imported into Vegas.

I thought that he wanted to have an animated line of text in Vegas that followed a path, (at least, that is what I wanted to do). That was a little more than the LTD program allowed.
