Im from NYC and was just wondering if any of the street boot leggers are shooting in 24p? Sorta of shooting film with video to look like film......right ???
hhmmm....it was a joke, thank you Dakotapod for seeing the humor in the idea.
Anyone see the Seinfeld episode when Jerry is boot legging with Kramer?? If not rent the DVD than you can understand my sense of humor.
I dont even own a VCR, just thought it was a funny idea! Just questioning the advancements in your typical movie theatre boot legger and if they see the value in 24p or maybe HD who knows.

I have to admit, I haven't seen a lot of Seinfeld (it's on at 12.30am in the UK) - I was about to have a rant about piracy, etc. but now, I'll replace all that with a smile ;D
Bootleggers in New York are much bigger on packaging than on quality of their product. The reason of course is the movies are "bootlegged." Shot with sony handcams in theatres the quality is shite. Good packaging is the only way they'll reel in a sucker. I've never bought one but everyone I know who's bought on the street has been disappointed.
I don't think bootleggers are aware of 24P, or that they'd even be willing to plunk down 3500 bucks so that their illegal copies have that smooth filmic look. But I could be wrong.
What would be hilarious is shooting the movie at 24p slightly out of sync with the projection . . . timed REALLY badly, half the screen would be black throughout the whole movie . . .
That would be delightful, but it probably wouldn't happen -- most modern projectors project the frame two or three times in the same 1/24th of a second, so you'll definitely get a full frame there, although it may be flickery...

“Oh, no – I’m not looking to pirate. I’m just curious as to how you go about DOING it . . . “

Anyone knows how to make a dirty bomb? Not that I want to build one... 8)
I agree with you, David. If you don't want to DO it, what's the point in asking - especially if it's illegal.
On the other hand, I'd really like to know how they build the DVX. Not that I want to do it myself...

Umm, you sent em to the wrong place.
This morning all my... umm... confectioners sugar was confiscated.
