Boom Recorder @ The Oscars

Actually, Flags did not win for mixing - Dreamgirls did. Willie Burton was the production mixer on Dreamgirls and Pursuit of Happyness. I met him and his boom op Marvin on Pursuit - he is really a nice guy. I don't know how he recorded Dreamgirls, but he recorded Pursuit on a Deva V, and I think his mixer is a Cooper.

Funny story - on set I never did get his full name, and they hadn't listed the sound dept. on IMDB yet, so I was really disappointed that I didn't know his full name, because I wanted to drop him a thank you note for taking time to chat. Then a couple of weeks later, I was looking at the CAS Web site, and there he was - he had just won a lifetime achievement award. :-)

And now, his second or third Oscar. How cool is that?

Oh, and this isn't meant as a slam or dig on Boom Recorder - as most of you know I use BR as my primary recorder now.
