Anyone have suggestions for where to get an affordable boom pole?

I'm shooting a documentary at the end of the week, so I can't rely on eBay for this.

I'm looking for a light, professional, telescoping pole with internal wiring capability, that can extend to at least 9 feet.

Is this possible for under $300?

Normally, we'd use C-stands, but this is a run-n-gun situation and we need to look good doing it, as well as eliminate or at least isolate cable slap noise, as well as get the best possible sound in a very noisy environment.

Hey Speedbump,

I have a Gitzo G-557 ($120) aluminum boom pole that allows me to run a mic cable through it's insides. Although the female XLR connector that comes out the top must be assembled after the cable has been routed through the pole. Afterwards, it would be permanently attached.

You could cut the connector off and install a new one... or have an electronics-savvy friend do it for you.

Here is an aluminum one that goes from 2.6' to 12.5' for $172.00

The lighter weight (1.98 lbs.) of the carbon fibre boom would definitely be appreciated by your operator.

You will also need a shockmount for the Gitzo pole. There are a couple of Audio Technica models that are relatively inexpensive.
