boom mic XLR cable and connectot noise

I am using the AT897 with my DVX and strangely the boom mic is very sensitive. Just by touching the cable or connector the noise is picked up by the mic. This is very annoying and I want to know if this is normal or is there a fault with the cable or the mic which is actually new.
 
yes it is.. you can avoid it by either twisting the cable around the boom, or running it through the inside of the boom if you have a good boom.
 
Some cables are worse than others at transmitting noise. You should have a loop of cable near the mic, so the noise doesn't get transmitted. Never have the cable pulled taut from the mic to around the boom. Also, are you using an isolation (shock) mount for the mic?

I am using a shock mount for the boom... and i don't have such a good boom pole that can have the cable go through the inside... but most importantly i know everything i fine with my mic since you guys say the noise from the cable an connector is a normal thing... thanks for the info
