Boom mic diameter question

I bought MattinSTL's list of items and the only things I'm missing are the K-tek KSSM and and the Sony headphones. I am wondering how you mount the Audio Technica microphone onto the Boom pole. Am I supposed to use the shoe adapter or do I use the KSSM unit or do I have to purchase a separate Universal shock mount adapter by Audio Technica or something? I'm looking to use this unit tonight so any feedback would be appreciated. The Audio Technica microphone comes with a stand adapter but the diameter seems too big compared to the Boom pole screw end. If you want, you can PM me for faster response.

wrong thread size, that mic clip has the old mic stand size thread. you need the k-tek kssm shock mount to do the mounting, its a critical piece of gear...

Is there an equivalent or better thing than the k-tek kssm ? I tried to buy it at the Trew Audio store but it wouldn't let me go through the shopping cart (kept emptying itself). BHPhotovideo was out. Was there another model or place I could buy a shockmount for this thread size? Thanks for the quick reply.

I knew I was gonna be missing something crucial.

Ktek GPSS is very similar, better IMHO, but cost $50 more and is actually harder to find in stock. Call around to other production people and see if you can borrow one until yours arrives.

Good luck

Yeah, I like the GPSS better as well. I know Coffey Sound has some. I was just there and saw them there.

I finally got the order to go through at Trew Audio. We'll see how it goes.
I had ordered an Octava also per sugggestion of MattinSTL and I was happy they fit the on camera shoe mount.

I think I need to get a shorter XLR cable though. 50 feet for an on camera mounted mic is a bit much. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

The tread size is not a big deal. every one and their mother make adapters. The larger diameter thread is common on mic stands and some old boom poles. I also think it's more common in the US and England, but I'm not sure on that one. The smaller size shows up on most boom poles and on most Zeppelins and shock mounts that are designed for field work. Personally I like the smaller threads better for everything, deeper cut harder to strip and generally more robust. I would pick up some adapters just because you never know when you might need them. They are only a buck or two and you probably only need one of each.
