Boom from top or bottom?

I know most people boom from the top down but occasionally I've seen people boom from the bottom.

Lets say two characters are standing up and having a convo on OTS form and the only way I can boom it is to mount my mic on on a tiny photography tripod on let's say a table beneth them. The other option is to use a light sttand with an arm and have the mic above them. It there an advantage in the sound from mounting it above them on a light stand then having it below them on table even if it's its the same distance from their mouths both ways?

S far as I know, the only difference should be bleed from what is beyond them. Pointing down, you'd get the sound of the ground; pointing up, the sky.

Indoors...depending on the room, the ceiling is probably more reflective than the floor.

But if none of that is an issue, then none of that is an issue.

Okay, okay, getting the sound from below might make their voices a little more resonant, getting the chest sound more than the nasal, but I doubt it would be noticeable in most circumstances. Unless James Earl Jones is playing one of the characters. :)

Oh...and instead of a light stand, why not go crazy and use a microphone stand?
