"Boom Be Gone!" (Adobe's new Content Aware Fill Tool)

I hope in the future as the VFX tools we have at hand get better and as crew awareness increases then we'll be able to happily have booms in shot much more often for the sake of improved sound. This is already common place on many shoots such as "House of Cards", and advancing VFX technology will lead to an expansion of situations booms can be put into shot.

While I agree they don't really have to get better to do what you have linked to. Alex, I believe, has talked about the HoC style boom removal and the first one has been doable with Mocha for quite a few years. Mocha is fairly pricey but a lot of it can be done in Resolve if you get the paid version. And you can sort of mix and match depending on the shot. I have done both on little projects and I'm not really a pict. editor or a VFX guy.

The HoC's thing is just simple masking and a clean plate. Very basic compositing. You can do it in just about any NLE.

The "trick" to all of them is pretty much what the articles talk about, planning ahead.
