boom and shockmount

Are the "SSM-1 SABRA-SOM SHOCK MOUNT" (aka the $50 shock mount from the sound room) and the "Rode BoomPole f/NTG1/NTG2/VIDEOMIC" (aka the 79.95 Boompole from B&H) compatible. In other words if I buy these two audio pieces, will they work together?

havent checked, but most probably yes.

All booms have a standardised thread size, so all shock mounts conform to this.

yes, I just bought both of them. They work like a glove

after doing a search of "shockmount", I hoped this thread would have one of those useful guides. I've read all the stickies on sound, but they mainly cover the microphone. Are there good threads about what to look for in a pole, shockmount, windscreen, and any other accessories? I'm pretty green when it comes to boom poles...

Actually, apparently not all booms do have a standardized thread size because I bought the Sabra Som and I need a thread adapter to make it fit on my Gitzco boompole.

well, its not the boom thats different, its the Sabra Som - the differences are almost ALWAYS on the mic clip/mount/shock mount/whatever so they can be used with studio gear (more likely for a mic stand to have bigger thread sometimes, but even then, small thread is more common.)

I cant think of a modern pole that doesnt have the smaller thread.
