bones opening credits effects

[carrcs]

I couldn't find a video of the actual opening credits for bones, but here is a video from someone who emulated it:

Any advice on how to create the strobing and flashing effects in Final Cut and/or Motion?

You mean the video, not the text right?

It looks like they just made a duplicate copy of the track, cropped, masked and offsetted it in the timeline. Then a simple fade in-out to blend it in.
Screen blending mode or something. Looks like a manual job anyways.

Not sure if that's what your after ?

Yes, I was asking about the video effect itself and not the text. That helped a lot. Thank you.
