Bond...James Bond

Hey guys, I'm about to ask what I am assuming to be a stupid question so feel free to laugh. You know the effect in the James Bond movies, (no not that one) the one at the beginning where he shoots toward the camera and the blood comes down? I imagine that the "blood" effect is accomplishable in AE. I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to direct me to what I might do to acheive a similar look. Thanks in advance.

well you could either animate it out by hand in photoshop, and then move the sequence of frames over your video then lower the opacity... OR you could paint an image red, lay it over your video, set a motion tween on it so the red sheet moves downward, lower the opacity and then apply some sort of distort effect on it (probably wave with randomization very high)

Thanks dj200423,
I was actually thinking of a pretty similar idea to your second suggestion with the red image, low opacity, and distortion. I just wasn't sure what distortion effect to use (still pretty much a beginner on AE). Thanks for the help.

I just had to do something like that with blood,
my advice???
use particle illusion, apply "dont erase" to the emitter you choose (me -july 2003 -wall drip) change to red and you will love what you get!

Where is wall drip? I dont have that in July 2003. I have Weird Growth, Jingle gorwth, modern painting, spray paint, etc, but no wall drip.

please accept my apology but now i'm confused. :-P Ogrus, did you mean particle playground and also could you explain "emitter"? sorry about this. thanks for your help though.

Sorry.... its 6_02!
its called "wall drip" i believe....

Yes, particle ilusion. A standalone program. Amazing particles and easy to use.
Do your blood there and import into after effects. Particular is great for 3D particles but i tried it for blood and it sucked.
Emitters are what particle illusion uses as to "make particles emit"
Its a very well priced program with amazing results
Check the webpage link above

The blood drip tuto form rabownitz isnt what he is looking for, blood only drips a few inches and uses a "liquifier" effect to strech it out a little...
it looks good but no use for a James Bond fast full screen drip!

Thanks everyone for the help. Ogrus, I'm checking out a demo of PI but I only see "drip" not "wall drip." I'm still looking and going through tutorials.

After a few minutes of playing with the liquify effect I got this result, very very easy to do. I made this up quicker than I should have to make it look decent, but just a test.

p.s. sorry about the quality, it took awhile to render as the original 720x480 .mov so I just rendered a small .avi and converted it to .wmv :)
