Bolex D16: RAW, 16/Super 16 sensor size, costs less than MkIII

The RED company was founded by a billionaire...
Who are these guys who make the Bolex? They are nobodies...What if they take the money and then run away?

Omg, then they just take the money and then run away... and blind believers will be blind believers again.
It better panicking just before you invest then after :D
Therefore I am just buying only finished products and not dreams with some sentimental retro sticker.

In my country there are tons of scammers who ask for money to fund their projects: electric cars, rockets, free energy devices,etc....Not a single one of them managed to actually make a product until now...
Here's an example of a guy who collected money thrugh donations but didn't deliver anything:

Well, who in their right mind will donate to the voice of the group Anonymous? "we are leigion, send us money". You would be better off donating to Beavis and Butthead, just to keep the show going. The Bolex people are in front of the camera, give updates, and it sounds plausible. If you kicked in and they run, they won't get far. You have to register big time in a kick-starter program. They would be hunted down.

I pledged at the $3,500 level and won’t be releasing it… an absolute gamble, sure, but so is what they’re doing. (And isn’t that the very nature of filmmaking anyway?) With all of the attention they’ve been getting on blogs and forums, Philip Bloom being an investor and so forth, they have everything to lose by not making good on their promise. It’s not like this would go unnoticed by the community; quite the contrary: I think there would be an uproar; I don’t think the Internet would let them live it down.

Tell me, how would they continue to work as filmmakers—in LA of all places—with a reputation as Kickstarter scam artists? Only an idiot would think a quick $280K is worth sacrificing your entire career over; on the contrary, they seem quite knowledgable and intelligent. And more to the point, they are being very visible. A scammer does not put pictures of him/herself all over the ’Net, a scammer does not call Stu Maschwitz over the phone to address a negative blog post, a scammer does not set up a booth at SXSW and go through the grueling work of day-long meet & greets—all to maintain an illusion of legitimacy in the eyes of skeptics.

If they were really scammers they would be completely dismissive of skeptics and focus only on convincing gullible “marks”. Filmmakers are such a scrutinizing bunch that it honestly makes no sense to pick us as marks when there are so many other scam “markets” that would require far less convincing. The amount of work they are putting into this negates the benefit of getting rich quick.

But there are some guys who did exactly this!
Years ago some African doctors arrived in my country claiming they discovered a cure for AIDS. They appeared at charity balls, newspapers, TV shows, etc. They tricked lots of people into giving them money and then they disappeared and they were never seen again.

Right now, some other guys claim they are building a space ship to land on the moon to win the Google Lunar X Prize...They only made some fancy 3D animations and nothing concrete in over 13 years of activity...

Ok Lets talk about the coming camera
Can anybody tell me how will this people get the raw material on a CF card according data rate speed I don't know the speed options from the CF card.
And what is the data rate of this coming camera if it is RAW material..Gx2300 has 240 Mb/s and they do this with ethernet connection.
I have listed to interview of the maker of Ikoskop according data rate speed from the camera Ikonoskop they design an own card only to transfer the data to the medium with enough speed which is very necessary..

I'm also ask this question by Digital bolex will get back with the answer

Why are you seriously comparing some Nigerian scammers (who are easily spotted) to a very credible sounding enterprise?

A few years ago, there was another guy here, a Greek who also claimed that he was working on a similar camera called Drama. People were very excited and the subject was debated at length...
But, where is the Drama now? Show me the Drama! I want to see the Drama!

Otis is still working on his Drama camera. He is at the stage where he will sell you his software and add an OLPF to one of several off the shelf industrial camera heads to work with it for recording to a laptop.

@cane: the machine-vision camera they're basing their design on outputs a stream of RAW footage at 1Gbps, which is 125 MB/s - but that's because it uses a slightly bigger area of the sensor; they're aiming at 2048 x 1152 with 12-bit, which, uncompressed, means 3.375 MB per frame, 81 MB/s - too much for most CF cards? yes, but that's why the camera has an SSD to work as a buffer: they write at 81 MB/s to the SSD (easy as pie), then the footage is automatically dumped to your CF cards after you're not recording

Thank you Samuel
But does it mean that the SSD buffer has also his own data store limit ? When the SSD write to the CF card it makes it automatically ready for the next shot ??
If I have enough CF card's I can shoot unlimited ??

I don't think you can shoot unlimited, but it has dual CF slots, so perhaps - how this offloading system works will depend on their software implementation

Thank you so for this post I must getting understand how it's work

Ok It getting slowly bright now
Must I empty this SSD on my self or will it getting empty automatically when is writing to the CF card ??
And next: 250 gb SSD buffer how much time does this mean to record limit ??

250GB can store a bit over 50 minutes - and I guess it's continually dumping to CF, even while you record, but we probably won't know until there are cameras in the wild

You’re right, it’s not an impossibility and they could very well be using the visibility as a cloak, but at the same time they haven’t promised anything nearly as far-fetched as a cure for AIDS or a lunar-bound rocket ship; just a stripped-down high-definition camera. The burden of proof is on the “it’s a scam” camp to point to evidence that suggests they are indeed malicious, instead of just sneaking suspicion. It’s healthy to be skeptical, but only up until a certain point; too much and it becomes conspiracy theory. So far all of the explanations they’ve offered to people’s concerns seem completely plausible.

Sound very good to me but what about the lenses if this camera come's out with ef mount's that would be fine also calculate the crop factor it's almost 4x according to s35mm sensor
If you look to the other mounts PL-or C mount's it's not easy to buy cheap wide lenses..
I hope there is alternative for this kind of camera's please good links so I can invest forward in this lenses it's sure that I will shoot raw and 16mm in the future.
